Robert F. Kennedy (RFK) Human Rights seeks a Development Associate to support our Development efforts.
About the Development Team
The work of Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights is possible thanks to a dynamic, multi-source model of revenue, supported by an endowment, individual giving (largely driven by board and leadership council support), events (such as our annual Ripple of Hope gala and Compass Investor Conference(s), and institutional support.
- Assist with prospecting, creating confidential donor briefs and developing outreach strategies;
- Aid in updating our Salesforce database with current donor information and latest outreach, and producing reports;
- Assist Development Manager in editing funding proposals for RFKHR programs;
- Assist in the development of collateral material for fundraising purposes;
- Manage execution of MOVES management through donor development and cultivation strategies and its automation in SF;
- Assist with monitoring and and updating evaluation systems with the latest impact updates;
- Liaise with members of each of our programmatic (at all levels) as needed;
- Support Director of Development Operations in donor stewardship program;
- Work with the Communications Department to support donor outreach;
- Support our Finance lead with documentation materials as needed for auditing purposes;
- Assist in our online auction research, conduct follow-up and public relations of acquired lots;
- Support annual gala projects as needed, including mailings, follow-up phone calls and donor research;
- Assist with other tasks and activities as needed, including but not limited to mailings and conducting phone calls;
- All new staff will undergo an introductory period of three (3) months as a training and learning period;
- Do your part in keeping our operations running smoothly – tracking your hours and submitting timecards in a timely manner.
- At least one year experience and/or interest in prospecting, soliciting, fundraising, grant writing, data management, writing, campaigns (communications, engagement drives, or fundraising), and the nonprofit sector;
- Awareness and interest in current events and issues relating to human rights around the world;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel;
- Demonstrated experience working on online platforms such as Zoom and Google Suite;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills;
- Demonstrated research skills suitable for varied audiences;
- Attention to detail, you’re able to scope out errors and willing to fix mistakes;
- Time management, you have the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects at once;
- Flexible, patient, and ability to stay gracious under pressure;
- High level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information;
- Innovative thinking, willingness to voice your opinions, and a strong work ethic are essential;
- Teamwork, you are able to build positive relationships with your colleagues and are willing to help others;
- Inclusive, you’re excited to work with people who have different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives from your own.
Preferred but not required qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience working with a CRM system, such as Salesforce;
- Experience working in fundraising and other events with NGO leaders.
