Job Summary: Working within a team, the Associate Consultant will be responsible for assisting project managers in performing analyses, modeling, and cost evaluations and related client services to the public sector water, wastewater, solid waste, and stormwater municipal industry. Our services include long-range financial planning, utility cost allocation and rate-setting, and management consulting services.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Analyze data, and prepare MS Excel based business forecasting models to support a variety of financial, accounting, and economic studies including projects related to financial planning, customer data and customer service, revenue requirements, cost of service, impact fees, rate and fee design, and debt feasibility studies under the direction of team members
  • Support senior staff in the development and execution of project work
  • Assist in benchmarking surveys and industry research
  • Utilize technical writing skills to produce and edit reports
  • Maintain effective, professional attributes while dealing with clients & colleagues

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree (accounting, finance, economics, mathematics, or other related fields)
  • Experience using MS Office applications of Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Strong analytical skills coupled with an ability to understand complex relationships and think creatively to solve complex problems
  • Excellent oral communication and written skills including reporting of complex analytical results in easy to understand terms to clients and stakeholders
  • Diligent, enthusiastic, and team-player attitude
  • Ability to work within a small team that may be spread across a broad geography
  • Ability to work independently on specific assignments once direction is provided
  • Willingness to travel overnight for project and job functions, if necessary

Preferences:

  • Modeling proficiency and experience MS Excel, Access, Word, Power Point and Tableau or similar data visualizing software.
  • Experience and/or interest in the state and local governmental water, wastewater, and stormwater utility industries
