Construction Analyst, Business Analysis & Reporting – Lakeland
Description:
The Construction Analyst will support the growing construction analytical needs of the business by performing audits and reporting on project activities. This includes coordinating and auditing construction projects by matching the job cost detail report to backup provided by the General Contractor (GC) and determining if Publix was billed according to contracts and applicable agreements. The Construction Analyst will also identify and communicate issues.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Special construction accounting related project requests including analysis of general ledger activities and assets
- Utilization of SAP software in performing analytical functions
- Being a knowledgeable subject matter expert (SME) on the processes, procedures, and controls in place regarding IO construction activity/contracts.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or another analytical discipline with at least 2 years relevant business experience or equivalent
- OR Associate’s degree in Accounting or another analytical discipline with at least 4 years business experience or equivalent
- OR High School diploma with at least 6 years business experience or equivalent
- Problem solving and advanced analytical skills to research information both from internal and external resources to apply critical thinking, creative thinking and develop solutions to significant projects
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to present fact-based information which is critical to provide consulting services to business areas
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of applications, especially Excel
- Researching skills and project management skills
- Ability to work independently and to effectively prioritize workload by assessing needs and prioritizing tasks
- Ability to demonstrate initiative by taking responsibility for learning new skills and processes
- Strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, and confidentiality

Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or another analytical discipline or equivalent
- Knowledge of the construction industry processes, terminology, accounting practices and project auditing
- Knowledge of construction contracting and associated documents
- Knowledge of Publix’s accounting departments
- Knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements and internal controls
- Knowledge of Publix structured writing templates such as procedures, audit findings, memos, and financial summaries
- Knowledge of Publix strategy

Year End Bonus :
To reward associates for their contributions to the company for the calendar year, Publix provides a Holiday Bonus in November. In the first year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to 15 hours of pay, and in the second year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to one week’s pay if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check. In subsequent years, the bonus is equal to two weeks’ pay.
