What You’ll Do:
As a Staff Writer you’ll be responsible for assisting in the execution of our editorial vision which involves: The ability to write about all major sports topics quickly and accurately, identify and execute real-time coverage based on breaking and viral stories (including live sporting events), follow content strategy, and create pieces of opinion and analysis for a team of editors. Articles will range from 300-800 words depending on the number of products featured and type of article. The writer will be expected to learn CMS to submit content (WordPress). Once articles are completed, the writer will submit them via the CMS for approval and edits.
What You Have:
- Ideally, 1-3 years of digital sports editorial writing experience
- Ability to quickly produce clean and interesting analysis on a variety of trending/viral topics, multiple times a day
- Ability to create forward-thinking wintergreen and evergreen content based on trending/viral topics, sometimes multiple times a day
- A working knowledge of all major professional sports in North America
- Capacity to say more about a trending topic than what has already been said
- Passion for and intermediate knowledge of all major professional sports
- Able to closely follow direction and style
- Strong attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines and multitask at a fast pace.
- Energetic, well organized and proactive team player
- Flexible schedule with availability on nights and weekends
