The Detention Services Officer (DSO) position is a sworn peace officer position that works in one of two Juvenile Halls within Los Angeles County. A DSO is responsible for the safety and security of the justice involved you and physical plant during their 40 hour shift. This includes; supervising daily hygiene, meals, walk youth to and from on-grounds school, supervision of programs, recreational activities, mentoring and counseling the justice involved youth, plan and implement special programs for the youth, etc. The DSO ensures safety of all youth under supervision, implements specific resources for each youth, refers youth to Medical Doctor, Nurse, Mental Health Staff, Dentist, etc. Transport youth the courthouse on grounds, attend special functions with the youth under supervision; Dodgers Game, Lakers Game, Pantages Theatre, etc.
Shift(s): 6am – 2pm and/or 2pm – 10pm 7 days a week, 365 days per year.
