Scientist, Rare Reagent Development

The Rare Reagent Development team is looking for a Scientist to participate in the development of rare reagents for growing and expanding immunodiagnostic lines of new products and assist in improvements of existing products. The successful applicant will be a scientist with appropriate level of education and experience and demonstrated abilities for problem solving.

What will you do?

  • Working at the bench preparing new liquid phase and solid phase reagents. Designing and performing various experiments at the interfaces of organic, biochemistry and material science. Experimental designs will be directed at improving reagents, their assay performance, stability and manufacturability.
  • You will be working with small organic molecules, peptides, and various proteins. You will be preparing conjugates of various nature (biological and surface based) and purifying them.
  • The work is highly collaborative. You will be participating in different stages of reagent design and development process: from the conceptual design of reagents through development and transfer of the reagents into manufacturing environment.
  • You are expected to maintain detailed records of your experimental work, prepare presentations and discuss your results in group and interdepartmental meetings.
  • May produce and/or test reagents and final products and perform other production-related activities.
  • Maintains knowledge of products and procedures, developments in the field and industry and regulatory environment. Adheres to appropriate procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • May participate in conferences, webinars and seminars to continue to develop knowledge base.

What do you need to succeed?

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering or material science or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Laboratory bench experience preparing bioconjugates, modified polymeric surfaces, and immunoassay experience are highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Being able to apply statistical methods to design experiments and evaluate the results.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively as part of a team.
  • Organizational skills and ability to plan work.
  • Takes initiative and is accountable (shows ownership); focuses on task at hand; detail oriented.
  • Being able to adapt to changes in timelines, priorities and other unexpected circumstances.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and handle the stress.
