Information Technology Specialist
FEDERAL BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION
The FBI Information Technology Specialist (ITS) provides desktop support and network account management for the entire field office, including Resident Agencies. In addition, job duties include the installation and configuration of hardware, such as desktops, servers, printers, laptops, printers and scanners. The ITS also handles web administration and design, smartphone support, two factor authentication registration, system installation and maintenance. Interested individuals should possess a solid understanding of the Windows environment, to include both client and administrative side and good customer service skills. Additionally, individuals should have a basic knowledge of installing software packages, troubleshooting hardware issues, and computer security. The ITS position requires TS-SCI clearance, the ability to lift 50 pounds and the ability travel on short notice. Also, modification to work hours may occur to support major events, crisis management or to support IT initiatives.
Candidates must meet the qualification requirement either by specialized experience or education. The submitted resume and supporting documentation will be used to determine whether candidates meet the job qualifications.
-Applying applications software development principles and methods to participate in the design, development, testing, maintenance, and implementation of new or modified applications software
-Knowledge of computers, IT methods and techniques and operating programs and their interrelationship to perform routine and recurring assignments
-Skill in applying troubleshooting methods and IT security principles
-Knowledge of current systems analysis and design techniques, programming techniques, programming languages, security measures, software engineering, telecommunication and data base concepts
-Effective oral and written communication skills
· Specialized experience for GS-7: Must have one year of experience in providing routine support regarding administrative and/or technical matter related to IT programs and/or services; performing routine system diagnostics and analyzing any potential problems or issues; and providing some limited training to users regarding basic utilization of IT equipment.
· Specialized experience for GS-9: In addition to GS-7 experience, must have one year of experience in analyzing end user requests and determining correct resolution to the problem; troubleshooting complex computer malfunctions, and preparing for and assisting in the installation of new equipment and software.
Education– All degrees must be from an accredited college or university. .
GS-7 applicant must have a bachelor’s degree with superior academic achievement (good class standing, 3.0 GPA or higher or honor society member).
GS-9 applicant must have a master’s or equivalent graduate degree or two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B or J.D., if related.
GS-11: Applicant must have a Ph.D. OR equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.M., if related.
GS-12: Education may not be substituted for Specialized Experience at this grade level.
