Associate Engineer – Electrical

As an electrical engineer at Cleveland-Cliffs Inc., you will typically be assigned to operations, maintenance, technology, or process automation. The work is primarily in the operations where much of your learning, observations, and interactions will take place. Office work is largely administrative, in-depth study, planning, engineering, etc., but even this is very much field based. Experience as a front-line supervisor is required to advance in operational management positions. Engineering duties may include: supervising a crew of hourly maintenance employees; recommending and/or performing predictive, preventative and emergency maintenance of equipment; researching, designing, evaluating, installing, modernizing, re-designing, operating, maintaining and repairing machinery and equipment; resolving equipment malfunctions, including those requiring scheduled shutdowns or breakdown action; planning, scheduling, and cost control of maintenance/engineering projects; reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports; analyzing current operating performance and standard operating procedures and making recommendations for improvement and various other duties as needed to support the business.
Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. generally requires a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent experience, for this position. In addition, the Company generally does not sponsor candidates for temporary visas or permanent residency at the Bachelor’s level.
