Under the direction of a Senior Transportation Surveyor, incumbent will provide technical expertise, knowledge and ability in processing field collected survey data, reviewing and creating construction staking note packages, and any and all other duties necessary to deliver complete survey products and information to all of North Region Office of Surveyors’ clients. Collaborates as part of a project team and acts as a subject matter expert between Surveys and other Caltrans functional units. Must possess a valid driver’s license when operating a state owned vehicle.
Executes through to completion the reduction of field generated survey data, compiles data for design surveys, right of way surveys, and construction staking; assists with post construction monumentation efforts, assists with archiving final deliverables in Document Retrieval System (DRS), provides research support to the monumentation perpetuation effort. Performs point cloud data extraction in support of the UAS, mobile and stationary LiDAR scanning efforts.
Utilize various software: Trimble Business Center, Microstation, AutoCAD Civil 3D, TopoDOT, RealWorks, Cyclone, UASMaster, POSPac, ArcGIS, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat Pro and other supporting software to register, extract and classify data to create georeferenced orthorecified images, point clouds, and 3D surface models.
Coordinates with party chiefs regarding compatibility of methods and procedures for data collection and completeness of survey. Provides alternative solutions for complex survey problems.
Interacts with the Offices of Land Surveys, Photogrammetry, Aeronautics, FAA, local agencies, consultants, and the public relative to survey issues.
