Graduate Geotechnical Engineer – Available June 2021

Responsibilities of this specific role will include, but not be limited to the following:

  • Carry out part time site supervision of ground investigation
  • Prepare laboratory test schedules
  • Use the GINT ground investigation database system
  • Interpret ground conditions and understand their impact on design and construction
  • Prepare shallow and piled foundation designs, slope stability calculations and seismic assessments
  • Carry out temporary support of excavation designs, for tunnel shafts and cut and cover tunnels/subway stations
  • Conduct preliminary ground movement predictions and building damage assessments
  • Work alongside our structural and bridge engineers to develop foundation and deep excavation designs
  • Prepare desk study reports on sites due for development

Qualifications

Required:

  • Master’s of Science or Master’s of Engineering in Geotechnical Engineering
  • 3.0 GPA or higher
  • Sound knowledge of civil engineering fundamentals, soil and rock mechanic
  • Completion of Advanced courses in foundation and soil mechanics
  • Willingness to travel for projects as needed
  • Curiosity to learn and stay up to date on relevant advances in the industry
  • The ability to prioritize effectively, balance assigned work and exceptional organization skills required for our constantly evolving environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills essential for team-based working
  • Presentation skills with colleagues and clients of all levels

Preferred:

  • PhD in Geotechnical Engineering
  • 3.5 GPA Preferred
  • EIT/FE desired
  • Geotechnical software skills
  • Past history of technical presentations and technical writing
  • Knowledge of Finite element analysis (Plaxis)
  • Previous experience with Lpile, Group, Slope/W, Slide
  • Exposure and Interest in Programming (Python, Visual Basic, Rhino, Leapfrog, etc…)
