NJ Advance Media (NJ.com) is looking for an Events Program Manager to build, oversee and lead a team tasked with planning and executing local events for a variety of editorial and marketing topics uniquely designed and developed to generate optimal revenue, response and brand promotion in support of our journalism as well as the business and professional communities in New Jersey. The candidate will manage every operational aspect of event planning; direct the team to create promotional materials; provide oversight over sponsor and vendor fulfillment for events; and meet or exceed yearly revenue goals through ticket sales and sponsorships while overseeing the planning and execution of all event details within a determined budget.
The Events Program Manager will lead us in recruiting, hiring, developing a programming calendar and setting a course for substantial revenue growth via virtual and in-person events as we build this division. This programming also will highlight the institutional knowledge and excellence of our reporting staff.
You should apply if you have:
- Bachelor’s degree with an added expertise in journalism, communications, public relations, hospitality or a related field
- Minimum five years’ event management experience
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a demonstrated ability of building relationships with sponsors
- Exceptional time management, organization and detail oriented
- Ability to work independently, delegate, problem-solve and stay calm under pressure
- Proven ability to lead a team that delivers on goals in the face of constant deadlines
- Knowledge of methods, software and tools used to produce professional events, in person and virtually
- Demonstrated understanding of New Jersey news, sports, weather, politics, business, entertainment and current events
- Ability to work remotely
