Job Description:
The TN Department of Finance and Administration Budget Office is a non-partisan office of Budget Analysts and Coordinators serving as the primary financial planning support team for the Governor and Commissioner of Finance and Administration to build and manage the state budget of fifty state agencies’ resources. The Budget Office is beginning an eight-week, in-person, paid internship that should fulfill any academic requirements (subject to degree program approval) for the summer months of June and July 2024.
Intern(s) will rotate through the various government business groups: working side by side with budget analysts, going on agency program visits with agency budget analysts and coordinators, and participating in budget analyst training sessions, for real life observation and experience of work in the Budget Office. Additionally, intern(s) will have an assigned budget project(s) to analyze data, develop recommendations, and present/report the project to budget management at the end of the internship. Example projects would be reviewing state or program revenues, reserves, expenditures, and associated trends; program utilization and trends; population trends, and staffing data and trends. The goal of the internship is to provide relevant experience to graduate students (preferred) and undergraduate students interested in public administration that will potentially lead to a long-term career in TN state government.
Pay:
$22-$23/hour based on graduate or undergraduate student
Dates: June and July 2024
Eligibility Requirements:
- You must be enrolled in a degree-seeking program at an accredited college or university. Preferred MBA and/or MPA program students.
