The Center for Intercultural Engagement within the Division of Student Life at Oberlin College seeks applications for a Program Associate for the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life (ORSL). This is a limited-term, 10-month appointment, with an end date of May 31, 2025. This Administrative and Professional Staff position is designed for a recent college graduate or early-career professional, is a live-in position with the potential for renewal in 2024-2025. The Program Associate reports to the Director of the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life. This position includes an on-campus apartment and a meal plan free of cost when dining services are in session.
Strong candidates will have experience working in interfaith and multi-religious, pluralistic settings with young adults coming from diverse backgrounds. The position is a best fit for recently graduated religious studies or humanities majors who are considering higher education chaplaincy, further divinity, seminary or religion graduate education, and/or forms of public ministry; or recent graduates from divinity or theological studies graduate programs. Through the course of the fellowship, there will be opportunities for professional development and continuing self and community study, as shaped and desired by the Program Associate.
Required qualifications:
B.A. degree; experience demonstrating strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills; knowledge of issues and concerns within religious life and/or adjacent cultural communities; familiarity with liberal arts environments similar to Oberlin College & Conservatory; comfortability with a learning-while-leading model of spiritual caregiving and an openness to navigating conflict with transparency and professionalism.
A flexible schedule required, including occasional evening and weekend hours.
Compensation is $3,100 per month, including a one-bedroom apartment and full meal plan while the College is in session. A full benefits package, including generous time off, is included. This live-in position does NOT require on call responsibilities.
