The STEAMbassadors Program is a mentorship workforce initiative to engage college students in strengthening and sharing their STEAM passions with youth from their communities. The STEAMbassadors Program supports young adults, 18-24, in transitioning from participants to practitioners, as they develop workplace skills, identify and deepen STEAM interests, and strengthen their identity as civic leaders.
Every STEAMbassador goes through over 30 hours of paid specialized training to prepare them to be a mentor and STEAM specialist that supports youth learning. Training includes a variety of experiences that focus on youth engagement, effective facilitation, workplace readiness, mentorship, and educational justice.
STEAMbassadors will also build their professional toolkit and career readiness skills by learning and using STEAM skills such as basic video editing, digital media, coding, asset mapping, community interviewing and design thinking.
Upon successful completion of training, STEAMbassadors work with youth to foster and cultivate their interest in STEAM related fields and areas of learning, providing them with a robust set of experiences on a variety of science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) activities in both informal learning spaces (i.e. parks and libraries) and on-line programs.
The STEAMbassador program offers both paid year-round part-time employment with a maximum of up to 10 hours a week and Summer part- time employment with a maximum of up to 20 hours a week.
