Look Under ASEP Administration, ASEP Associate
Responsible for the supervision of students in programs that support academic progress while ensuring safety procedures and good behavior are maintained.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
1. Actively participates as a member of the care-giving team engaging in activities with the children.
2. Determines effective use of facilities and equipment with assistance from other team members.
3. Adheres to policies and carries out procedures established by the school and the After School Enrichment Program (ASEP).
4. Prepares and implements aligned lessons for learning taking place indoors and outdoors.
5. Develops and follows procedures to safeguard the health and safety of children in the program.
6. Maintains visual supervision of children at all times, including paying attention to playground safety.
7. Coordinates the distribution of afternoon snacks.
8. Participates in staff training, regular staff meetings and in special ASEP sessions.
9. Communicates openly with peers and works under the general supervision of the site coordinator.
10. Participates as a team member in carrying out and documenting consistent consequences for student disciplinary problems.
11. Establishes open communication and good rapport with each parent.
12. Assures that the classroom is left in a clean, orderly condition for regular school the following day.
13. Assists in securing equipment in proper storage areas.
14. Works extra hours in emergency situations.
15. Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge, Skills & abilities
· Ability to show genuine interest and concern for each child’s needs and general well-being
· Knowledge of safe practices in classroom and playground activities.
· Knowledge of basic record keeping techniques
· Knowledge of basic subjects taught in district schools
· Ability to learn child guidance principles and practices
· Ability understand to follow oral and written directions
· Ability to monitor, observe and report student behavior according to approved policies and
· procedures
· Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences, orally and in writing, including electronic media
· Operating knowledge of computer programs, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases
· Excellent time management skills and ability to organize, prioritize, manage and carry out duties efficiently and within established timeframes
· Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with all stakeholders
Education, Training & Experience
· High school diploma or GED
· Some verifiable experience working with children in a licensed facility
OR
· Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position
Certificates, Licenses & Registrations
· BSAC- Basic School-Age Care within 3 months of hire
· NC-DHHS Criminal Background Check required prior to hire
Preferred qualifications
· NC Early Childcare Credential I or II
· Associate degree or four-year degree with emphasis on child development, early childhood education or a related field
· At least 2 years of verifiable child day care or early childhood experience in a licensed setting.
